A US ITER Research Team for Full Participation in and Benefit From ITER
The USBPO has prepared a white paper proposing immediate formation of a community-led US ITER Research Team (USIRT), consistent with the recommendations of the recent APS-DPP community planning process and the FESAC Long-Range Planning Committee. Forming the USIRT now will help ensure timely access to ITER’s full value, in terms of both experience and intellectual property. It also will provide a fast-track pathway to build the workforce for the burning plasma science and engineering domain needed to construct and operate a Fusion Pilot Plant.
